Cascade views and the fountain show in Yerevan were genuinely lovely moments. Dilijan portion fell a bit flat for us though, heavy rain washed out our planned monastery walk and the alternative indoor options the driver suggested felt like an afterthought. Would still recommend Yerevan on its own merit.
Dilijan genuinely earns its Little Switzerland nickname, cool air and green hills everywhere you look. Combined with a couple of relaxed days in Yerevan, this trip struck a lovely balance between culture and calm.
Contrast between Yerevan's city buzz and Dilijan's quiet countryside was exactly what we wanted from this trip. Only issue was our hotel in Dilijan had very weak wifi, which was frustrating since we needed to work remotely for part of the trip.
Haghartsin Monastery tucked among the trees in Dilijan was so peaceful, barely any other tourists around when we visited. Yerevan's Cascade steps at sunset were equally memorable, we kept stopping just to take in the view.
Armenia was such an underrated pick for our anniversary, barely anyone we know has been there which made it feel extra special. Dancing Fountains at Republic Square on the first night set such a lovely tone for the whole trip. Climbing the Cascade for that view of Yerevan with Mount Ararat in the distance was breathtaking, we sat there for almost an hour just talking. Dilijan afterward felt like a completely different country, pine forests and fresh mountain air after the city buzz.
Beautiful country, but the long transfer out to Dilijan ate a real chunk of our short break.
