Chiang Mai was our favourite stop, cooler weather and the temples felt calmer compared to Bangkok's chaos. Doi Inthanon hike was a nice surprise, did not expect that kind of greenery in Thailand.

The route itself is faultless, but rainy season showers battered us on two separate days, once exactly when we were meant to be island hopping near Phuket. Losing that beach time hurt given how little of it thirteen nights actually leaves once you factor in the cities.
Bangkok traffic ate into our sightseeing time more than we expected, we missed one of the planned temple visits because of it. Everything else on the route was well paced though.
The rainy season showers hit us hard on two separate days, once right when we were supposed to be island hopping near Phuket, so we lost almost a full day sitting in the hotel waiting it out. Rest of the trip was decent but that washout stung given how short island time already was.
