Crowds at Tanah Lot during sunset were honestly a lot, hard to get a clean photo or even a quiet moment with so many tour buses arriving at once. Kuta beach itself in the mornings was peaceful though, so the balance was decent overall.
Reflecting back on this trip a few months later, it remains one of my favourite solo decisions this year. Kuta gave me exactly the mix of energy and quiet I needed, busy enough in the day to never feel lonely, calm enough at sunset to actually think. Tanah Lot was the emotional high point, standing there as the waves hit the rocks below the temple. Only wish the second day had one more activity built in since I ended up just repeating the beach walk from day one.
