Ubud Family Escape: Temples, Terraces & Tranquility

Temple visit to Tirta Empul was a lovely, calm cultural stop for the kids to see something different from the usual beach holiday routine. We did have to explain the dress code and rituals beforehand so they understood what was happening and why.

Multi-generational trip with my parents and our two children and Ubud handled all of us beautifully. The kids loved the waterfall spray, my parents loved the calmer pace compared to the beach towns we usually pick.

Splashing around at Tegenungan Waterfall was the trip highlight for our kids, they still ask to go back.

Toddler in tow, Ubud proved more manageable than we feared, the resort pool was a lifesaver most afternoons.

Landed frazzled after a long flight with a three year old and Ubud somehow un-knotted us. The resort pool did the heavy lifting each afternoon while the little one napped, and the walk through the Tegalalang paddies was just enough of an adventure without wearing everyone out.

Rice terrace views at Tegalalang were the postcard moment our family photos needed, even our reluctant teenager put the phone down for a few minutes. The resort itself felt like a genuine retreat after a long flight with kids.
