Fira's sunset alone justifies the whole trip, we watched it holding hands with half the island doing the same thing. Red Beach the next day felt like a completely different planet.
Oia at sunset is so crowded now that finding any decent spot means arriving nearly two hours early, which felt excessive for a holiday. Restaurants right along the caldera edge charge a steep premium for fairly ordinary food too. Red Beach was the one part of the trip that felt uncrowded and genuinely special.
Every evening on this island somehow topped the last one. Fira's caldera views at sunset were the moment we both said this trip was worth every rupee.
