Rail journey between Zurich and Lucerne is short but scenic enough to be worth savouring rather than rushing. Old Town alleys in Zurich are lovely for an aimless evening walk together. Chapel Bridge in Lucerne gets busy by midday so we went back at dusk for quieter photos. Lake Lucerne cruise on our last full day was the calm finish this trip needed.
This entire rail route between Zurich and Lucerne suited us perfectly for a five night couple's escape. Zurich Old Town gave us two evenings of quiet wandering and good coffee. Lake Lucerne cruise surrounded by mountains on both sides was the highlight neither of us expected to love this much. Chapel Bridge crossing at golden hour closed out the trip beautifully.
