Crowds take over Koh Larn by midday with boats arriving nonstop from the mainland, quite different from the peaceful photos in the brochure. Food around the Cape Dara area was also priced much higher than what we paid in Bangkok for similar meals. Wat Arun and Chinatown were still worth the trip despite these hiccups.
Getting lost together in Bangkok's Chinatown lanes, trying random street snacks without knowing their names, was honestly the highlight of the entire honeymoon for us. Pattaya afterward felt like a gentle unwind with beach days and seafood dinners. Highly recommend this pairing of cities for any couple.
Koh Larn's clear water and warm breeze made for the most relaxing afternoon of our whole Thailand trip.
Splitting our six nights between Bangkok and Pattaya gave us the ideal balance of culture and coast for our anniversary trip. Standing by the river watching Wat Arun light up in the evening felt like something out of a postcard. Coral Island the next day was calm and beautiful, a nice contrast to the busy city. We came back already talking about which Thai island to explore on our next visit.
Bangkok to Pattaya as a route works nicely for couples wanting temples first and beach relaxation after. Our hotel transfer on arrival took unusually long because of a mix up with pickup timing, though the tour company sorted it out quickly. Wat Arun remains etched in our memory as the best photo stop of the trip.
Lovely mix, temple-hopping in Bangkok then lazy days on the Pattaya sand.
