Decent mix of city and coast for a family trip overall. Fremantle and the Swan River side felt well paced but Margaret River deserved a little more time than we got. Kids enjoyed almost every stop regardless. Would consider extending this to six or seven nights next time.
Five nights gave us a proper taste of both the city and the coast. Fremantle Markets were gloriously chaotic for the little ones, and the evening Swan River cruise was the perfect slow wind-down after a full day on foot.
The Fremantle side and the Swan River were well handled, but the Margaret River leg is a long drive there and back in a day and our youngest got restless on the return stretch. The lookouts made it worth the miles, just be ready for them.
