Colosseum visit brought Roman history alive for our gladiator obsessed seven year old.
Rome's summer heat wore the kids out well before midday most days. We had to slow the pace considerably and add extra breaks for ice cream and shade. Colosseum and Vatican mornings worked much better than afternoons for us. Would suggest starting sightseeing earlier if visiting around this time of year.
St Mark's Basilica mosaics left me speechless honestly. Stood there far longer than planned just staring upward at the ceiling.
