Rail-focused itinerary made travelling with two kids far less stressful than we expected. Titlis snow activities and the Zurich lake cruise were the two moments our children keep bringing up months later.

Titlis and the lake cruises were genuinely lovely but food near the Lucerne promenade was quite overpriced for what we got, ended up cooking in our room a couple of nights instead. Rest of the trip more than made up for it.
Switzerland as a family was completely new territory for us, and the Zurich to Lucerne route eased us in gently. Lake Zurich at dusk on day one set a relaxed tone for the whole holiday. Mt Titlis was the standout day by far, our kids had never touched snow before and it turned into hours of playing rather than the planned hour or two. Chapel Bridge and the Lucerne promenade in the evenings gave us a nice slow wind down after each adventurous day.
Chapel Bridge in Lucerne was an easy, pretty stroll, just what we all needed after a big day up Titlis.
The rail idea was great for travelling with two kids, but our Zurich to Lucerne train ran late and was packed, so we stood a good part of it with the youngest on my hip. Titlis the next day rescued the mood.
