Jungfraujoch itself, the actual Top of Europe stop, had the kids running around in snow in the middle of summer like it was the best day of their lives. Lake Lucerne's cruise gave everyone a calm morning to recover before Chillon Castle's medieval halls captured the kids' imagination completely. Maison Cailler's chocolate tasting and the Peak Walk at Glacier 3000 were the perfect high energy finish.
Combining Kleine Scheidegg and Jungfraujoch in one day makes for a genuinely epic family outing, snow, mountains and clean air the kids still bring up months later. The only hiccup was a fairly long coach transfer between Interlaken and Montreux that tested everyone's patience a bit.
A wonderful family holiday on the whole, but Bern's old town at the very start felt rushed, we would genuinely have liked a full extra day there before being pushed on to Lucerne. Everything from Kleine Scheidegg onward was superb though.
Postcard views throughout this trip, no argument there, but our family got stuck at a lengthy shopping stop on the way to Montreux that felt entirely unnecessary and cut into our time at Chillon Castle instead. Kids were bored and restless through that whole detour.
