Chillon Castle by the lake felt like walking through a storybook, and the chocolate tasting at Maison Cailler right after was a lovely little indulgence. Interlaken as a base between the mountains is scenic but quite touristy in peak summer. Still, the views from Jungfraujoch alone made the whole trip memorable.
Montreux by Lake Geneva is calmer and more romantic than the busier mountain towns earlier in the trip. Train connections across all three cities were punctual and comfortable, exactly what you would expect from Switzerland. A little more time in Montreux itself would have been welcome given how lovely it is.
The Aletsch Glacier unrolling in front of us from Jungfraujoch was worth every franc of the premium.
Honeymooned across Lucerne, Interlaken and Montreux and could not have asked for a more romantic route through the Alps. The Aletsch Glacier view from Jungfraujoch left us both quietly staring for a good ten minutes. Chillon Castle added a nice historical touch to what is mostly a scenery focused trip.
We paid top tier expecting crystal-clear alpine views and thick fog swallowed Jungfraujoch the moment we arrived, barely a few metres of visibility. The Lake Lucerne cruise was the only stretch that genuinely matched the brochure, which stings at this price.
