Plitvice Lakes is stunning but the walkways get seriously congested by midday with tour groups, we ended up shuffling along in a queue for parts of it rather than actually enjoying the walk with the kids.
The Blue Lagoon swim stop kept even our nervous swimmer happy, the water calm and glassy the entire time.
Zagreb at the end felt like a totally different, calmer country compared to the coast, nice change of pace for the kids.
Diocletian's Palace in Split is genuinely fascinating, a whole neighbourhood living inside ancient Roman walls, though it does get quite touristy by afternoon with cruise ship crowds pouring in. Kids enjoyed exploring the underground cellars the most.
Swimming in the Blue Lagoon with our kids was one of those holiday moments you don't forget, water so clear and calm even our nervous swimmer was comfortable. Would book this exact route again in a heartbeat.
The Elafiti yacht day was genuinely lovely, but once the cruise crowds poured into Diocletian's Palace each afternoon it was hard to move, let alone keep eyes on two children. Mornings in Split were far better.
