Neuschwanstein Castle felt like walking into a fairy tale, even my father who rarely gets impressed by anything was taking photos non-stop. Five nights across two cities worked out perfectly for a family our size.
Neuschwanstein Castle deserves all the hype, we spent nearly the whole day there and still felt rushed. Berlin's Brandenburg Gate and Reichstag gave good historical context before we moved south, a well structured itinerary overall for a family with school going children.
Loved the trip overall, but our Munich hotel check-in dragged on close to an hour with two shattered kids after the train ride, which frayed everyone's nerves. Once we were settled, the castle day the next morning made up for it.
