Hofbräuhaus evening was a lot more fun with kids than we expected, the music and atmosphere kept everyone entertained. Rail journeys were comfortable overall though do carry snacks, the connecting trains do not always have great food options.
Neuschwanstein looked exactly like the pictures and our daughter was smitten, well worth the add-on. The Munich to Frankfurt stretch dragged a little for the youngest, but a colouring book saved the day.
Watching the Glockenspiel come alive in Marienplatz with our kids cheering was such a simple, perfect moment.
Berlin leaned heavy on history, which our five year old found slow going, lots of standing and listening. Munich's Glockenspiel and the beer hall dinner rebalanced things nicely, so it evened out in the end.
Römerberg Square's half timbered houses were a lovely surprise, felt like walking into a storybook with the kids pointing at every building. Berlin was heavier on history which our younger child found a bit slow, but Munich balanced it out nicely.
Itinerary itself is well designed but our train from Berlin to Munich was delayed by over an hour with minimal announcements, which is stressful when you have tired children waiting on a platform. Once we reached Munich things went smoothly again.
